NYSE Partners With Securitize to Launch Tokenized Securities Platform
The New York Stock Exchange has forged a landmark partnership with Securitize to develop a blockchain-based platform for tokenized securities. This collaboration marks Wall Street's most significant embrace of distributed ledger technology to date.
Securitize has been designated as NYSE's first digital transfer agent, granting it authority to convert traditional equities and ETFs into blockchain tokens. The move could fundamentally reshape securities issuance, settlement, and trading by bypassing legacy systems.
The partnership extends beyond mere tokenization. Securitize will help establish the regulatory and technical frameworks for institutional-grade digital assets, while its broker-dealer arm gains direct access to NYSE's forthcoming Digital Trading Platform.
'Very proud and humbled to have been chosen by NYSE for this role,' said Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo, crediting NYSE's Michael Blaugrund for advancing the initiative.
